Flash floods and landslides remain a threat to parts of Visayas and Mindanao due to the tail-end of a cold front, state weather forecasters said Friday.
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Manny Mendoza also said rain from the northeast monsoon looms over Luzon.
"Possible flash floods and landslides in Eastern Visayas and Northeastern Mindanao may be caused by rain due to the diffused tail-end of a cold front," Mendoza said in an interview on dzBB radio.
Also he said there is no cyclone or weather disturbance near the Philippine area of responsibility at this time.
PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said the diffused tail-end of a cold front is affecting Visayas while the northeast monsoon is affecting Luzon.
"Eastern Visayas and Northeastern Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms which may trigger flash floods and landslides," it said.
It said the rest of the Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms.
The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough, it added. — LBG, GMA News
